In a shocking incident, a woman from Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh, was stripped, hung upside down from a tree and thrashed as she had refused to transfer her land. As per reports, when the woman approached the police for help, they allegedly refused to pay attention to her complaint.
The accused are said to be some "influential" people of the village. Now, the Balrampur District Magistrate has ordered a probe into the incident.
"She wasn't pushed away when she had gone to file a police report. We had registered an FIR against Wajid Ali, Sajid Ali, Mohammad Mutwil and Mohamad Matlub soon after she went to Tulsipur police station," Superintendent of Police V.D. Shuklawas quoted as saying in a Indiatoday report.
Meanwhile, Balrampur DM Priti Shukla was quoted as saying in the report, "The Circle Officer of Tulsipur, Balak Ram, has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the case."
